Today on July 6, 2024, we proudly join cooperatives around the world to celebrate the International Day of Cooperatives.
This day highlights the significant impact of cooperatives and is a reminder of the incredible contributions cooperatives make towards achieving resilient communities, economic development and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Officially proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1995, the International Day of Cooperatives is celebrated annually on the first Saturday of July. This year marks the 30th International Day of Cooperatives recognized by the UN and the 102nd International Cooperative Day.As IRU – International Raiffeisen Union, we are dedicated to fostering a strong network among our members. By sharing experiences and through networking and collaboration, we enhance our collective ability to address global challenges and promote community-driven economic resilience. Raiffeisen’s principles of mutual support and democratic governance remain at the heart of our mission.
On this day, we invite local, national, and international policymakers, civil society organizations, and the public to recognize the significant contributions of cooperatives. Join us in celebrating the cooperative spirit and the power of our united efforts to build a better future for all.
