The IRU today held its Global Board Meeting, hosted by IRU President Guy Hoffmann and Secretary General Andreas Kappes. The representatives from important IRU member organizations across the globe strongly supported the ongoing activities of IRU and discussed strategic key topics relevant to the network. For Mr Arnold Munene, Group Managing Director of KUSCCO – Kenya Union of Savings & Credit Co-operatives Ltd., Elenita Roque, CEO of ACCU, and Mr Jan Holthaus, CEO of DGRV, it was the first time joining the Board after the last General Meeting.
One of the central meeting points was the ongoing Raiffeisen Ambassador Training, currently in its third training round. The Board discussed the program’s progress and future advancements by a second training format, reflecting on the importance of this initiative in promoting cooperative knowledge among cooperators.
As a global networking organization, IRU members also engaged in a rich exchange of best practices on crucial themes such as digital transformation, social impact, governance, member engagement and many more. These discussions are vital in driving innovation, fostering exchange and strengthening the collaboration among IRU members. In future, round of discussions on such selected topics are planned.
Another major focus of the meeting was the upcoming International Year of Cooperatives 2025. As the second International Year of Cooperatives after 2012, the Board explored planned activities and synergies among IRU members to ensure a coordinated and impactful observance of this significant year. Officially, the IYC2025 kick-off will take place at the International Cooperative Alliance General Assembly in Delhi end of November 2024.
We extend our thanks to the Global Board of IRU for their support and contributions during the discussions. We look forward to the continued development of the IRU and the collective preparations for the International Year of Cooperatives 2025.
