How many members do the cooperative banks or the housing cooperatives have in Germany? How many Raiffeisen markets and Raiffeisen petrol stations are there? How many pharmacies, bakeries and merchants are organised in cooperatives? How many greenhouse gases are avoided by the solar power and wind energy plants of the energy cooperatives?
Answers to these and other questions are provided in the latest 2022 edition of “Facts and Figures of Cooperatives in Germany”. The brochure, which is bilangually published in English and German by our IRU member organisation DGRV – Deutscher Genossenschafts- und Raiffeisenverband, provides a good introduction and overview on the current trends and numbers of the German cooperative system.
On 30 pages, the most important information and current figures on the cooperative sectors are summarised. In addition to the graphically prepared sector data, “Facts and Figures” also contains an overview of the cooperative associations in Germany. Furthermore, “Facts and Figures” offers global data and information from cooperative development cooperation. All texts are included in German and English.
“Facts and Figures” highlights the enormous importance and diversity of cooperatives. More than 7,000 cooperative enterprises are a driving force for the economy and society. In purely mathematical terms, every fourth person in Germany is a member of a cooperative.
