“Cooperatives in Mexico, an indispensable economic engine” is the title of the latest podcast of the IRU Member Caja Popular Mexicana.
Cooperatives are an important driving force for the economy of each country, but in order to amplify the positive impact they generate, the legislation applied in each country is very important. Cooperatives generate employment, contribute to the development of communities and facilitate the population’s access to various products and services, including financial services. In Mexico, the savings and loan cooperative sector is already well established as there are currently 155 saving and credit cooperatives that generate more than 211 billion pesos in the Mexican economy, which, in the face of the uncertainty and economic restructuring in view of the pandemic, is positioned as an alternative for the reactivation of the country.
