Dear Cooperators,
We are thrilled to announce that the IRU – International Raiffeisen Union has expanded its global network with the addition of our latest and currently only member from Nepal, the National Cooperative Bank Limited (NCBL).
The NCBL has a long-standing reputation as a leading cooperative bank in Nepal, dedicated to promoting financial inclusion and empowerment in the country. With a strong focus on sustainable development and community-building, NCBL is a natural fit for the IRU’s global network, which aims to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among cooperatives worldwide.
As a member of the IRU, NCBL will have access to a vast network of cooperative organizations from around the world and who are committed to our joint cooperative principles and values of Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen. This is a great opportunitiy for all of us to collaborate and learn from peers.
Furthermore, it is worth mentioning the outstanding cooperative sector in Nepal, which has a long and rich history. The cooperative movement in Nepal can be traced back to the 1950s, and since then, it has grown exponentially, with cooperatives playing a crucial role in promoting social and economic development in the country. The cooperatives in Nepal have been inspired by the values and principles of our cooperative pioneer Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen, who believed in the power of mutual self-help, solidarity, and community-building. The cooperative sector in Nepal is diverse, encompassing a range of sectors, including agriculture, finance, housing, and education.
With the addition of the National Cooperative Bank Limited to the IRU’s global network, we hope to see even greater collaboration and growth in Nepal’s cooperative sector.
We are delighted to welcome the National Cooperative Bank Limited, Nepal, to the IRU’s global network, and we look forward to collaborating with them on new initiatives that will drive positive change and contribute to the promotion of the cooperative movement worldwide.
