Dear People of Turkey and Syria,
Dear IRU Colleagues from Tarim Kredi and Pankobirlik,
the IRU – International Raiffeisen Union and its member organisations extend heartfelt condolences for the losses caused by the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria on February 6. Our hearts go out to you in this time of loss and sorrow.
This devastating situation faced by you and your compatriots is terrible. We cannot find words to describe our sad feelings when watching the horrible reports in the news.
We feel strongly with you, all our Turkish and Syrian friends, and the entire Turkish and Syrian people.
Every bit of help counts:
Many of our members have initiated (donation) campaigns for those affected in Turkey and Syria. For example, our member DGRV – Deutscher Genossenschafts- und Raiffeisenverband (German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Confederation) has launched an internal appeal for donations, with every euro donated being doubled by the DGRV. However, further targeted assistance is urgently needed.
The IRU appeals to its members and partners, citizens and society at large to help in any way possible. Several smaller and larger organisations are in the affected regions providing emergency aid. For example, the International Red Cross and the UNHCR
